Liverpool’s European roster – excluding Chiesa and Endo and including Equitic and Leon
The European Football Association (UEFA) has published the lists of clubs participating in the European Championships next season.
Liverpool will participate in the next round of the Champions League.
Liverpool will face the following teams in the league stage: Atletico Madrid (home) – Inter (home) – Porto (home) – Club Brugge (away) – Villarreal (home) – Fenerbahçe (away) – Lens (home) – LASK (home)\
Liverpool coach Andon Iraola has ruled out Federico Chiesa and Ouattara Ndou from the Champions League.
And Giovanni Leon, Conor Bradley and Hugo Ekitik were registered in the tournament list.
Chiesa missed Liverpool’s first two games of the season with a hamstring injury, while Endo came on the bench against Newcastle and Nottingham Forest.
Iraola opted to include a number of young players in the squad, with James McConnell in midfield and the club’s academy graduates Luke Chambers and Isaac Mapaia among the 11 defenders on the squad.
Iraola is waiting for the trio to join team training after they recover from their injuries.
Italy defender Leon will return to training later this month after nearly a year out with a torn anterior cruciate ligament.
Similarly, Bradley has been sidelined since picking up a knee injury against Arsenal in January, while Ekitiqi ruptured his Achilles tendon against Paris Saint-Germain in April last year.
Ekitik was Liverpool’s top scorer last season with 17 goals.
EU regulations require a list of 25 players to be included, including at least 8 local players, and this does not include young players such as Rio Njomoha and Trey Nyon, who may be included in the ‘B’ list.
