Al-Ahli midfielder Imam Ashouri is close to making Egypt’s squad for the next camp, despite not featuring for the Reds in recent times, with the Pharaohs’ coaching staff confident of the player’s importance and ability to add to the midfield.
A source confirmed to Al-Yum Al-Sabea that the technical staff of the Egyptian national team is continuously monitoring the condition of Imam Ashour, after being convinced to develop his rehabilitation program and restore much of his physical and technical readiness, which increased his chances of joining the next camp.
National team officials believe that Imam Ashour has the experience and ability to make him one of the most important elements in Hossam Hassan’s technical staff, especially as he is considered one of the most outstanding Egyptian midfielders in recent years, in addition to playing in more than one position on the pitch.
The condition for joining the Egyptian national team is to reach physical readiness
The move to include the Al-Ahli player comes after the national team received assurances that the player will be match-ready by the time of the camp, giving the coaching staff the opportunity to closely assess him and determine his technical and physical condition ahead of the upcoming matches.
The team is also betting on the fighting spirit that Imam Ashour enjoys, as well as his ability to connect the team’s lines and make the difference in attack and defense, which has led the technical staff to keep him in the selection circle despite his recent absence from official matches, apart from the player’s great brilliance during his participation in the last World Cup.
On the other hand, the player continues to carry out an intensive program with Al-Ahly to regain full fitness and match sensitivity, preparing to feature regularly for Al-Ahly next term, while also wanting to keep his place in the national team.
The Egyptian national team’s technical staff are expected to decide once and for all on Imam Ashour’s position when the next list is announced, given that he is close to being in the Pharaohs camp if his fitness indicators reach a high level.
