The full story of Raul Asensio’s crisis with Real Madrid

According to press reports, Real Madrid defender Raul Asensio was officially acquitted by the Supreme Court of Las Palmas in the Canary Islands in the case of publishing a sexual video recording involving a minor.

International newspaper ESPN reports that a court statement released today, Thursday, said the 23-year-old was innocent of any wrongdoing after the two plaintiffs dropped their complaints after Asensio apologized to them.

Details of the trial of the Real Madrid player

Asensio was placed under investigation in 2025, along with three former Real Madrid academy players, after being suspected of recording and publishing sexual videos without consent, in which two young women, aged 16 and 18, appeared.

And the other three players, Ferran Ruiz, Juan Rodriguez and Andres García, were released on charges of publishing sex tapes without consent.

They were sentenced to a one-year suspended prison term for exploiting pornographic materials on underage girls and were also required to undergo a sexual rehabilitation course.

The report noted that Asensio was not present at the time of the events, but was being prosecuted for sharing the recordings with a third party.

Despite his acquittal in the case, Asensio remains under disciplinary action from Real Madrid, his Portuguese coach Jose Mourinho confirmed on Thursday morning.

It should be noted that the Real Madrid defender was fined 14,400,000 euros yesterday, Wednesday, in addition to having his driver’s license revoked for 8 months, after being convicted of driving under the influence of alcohol.

Mourinho reacts to the situation of Raul Asensio

Jose Mourinho said in a press conference: “He is a typical professional player. When he was physically fit, nobody trained as hard as him and now, despite the injury a few weeks ago, he is the first to arrive and the last to leave.”

The Portuguese coach continued: “But a Real Madrid player remains a Real Madrid player 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 12 months a year.”

He concluded: “Everything you do off the pitch represents Real Madrid and can damage the club’s reputation and standing. I’m not happy. Everyone makes mistakes, but accumulating mistakes is a different matter.”

On that note, Asensio has been suffering from a thigh injury since mid-July and Mourinho has yet to call him up for matches.
