Omar Kamal Abdel Waheed, former and current Al-Ahli Arab contractor, revealed the scenes of his departure from the Red Castle and explained the details of what happened in the pre-season, which witnessed his team’s expulsion from the camp.
The reasons behind the departure of Omar Kamal Abdel Waheed
Omar Kamal Abdel Wahed said during a statement on the DMC channel that Al-Hussein Amouta Amouta, Al-Ahly’s technical director at the time, wanted to see all the players during training to determine their fate, noting that everything was going well in the first week before a crisis hit in the second week.
He explained: “There has been a message in the players’ group stating the date of the meeting and we have been informed that Amuta wants to see all the players on the pitch to decide the fate of each player.”
He added: “In the first week everything was going well for me, but in the second week, in one of the training sessions that witnessed the division, the general manager Hisham told me that I was part of the team that wore the purple shirt.”
He continued: “After that it became clear that the green jersey team was missing a player. Then they started calling the names of the players and it turned out that I was in the green jersey team. At that time, I told the general coach that he had informed me earlier that I would wear the purple jersey, but I was surprised by the reaction that I did not expect at all.”
Omar Kamal continued: “Amuta told me that I was not concentrating in training but too hard, so I asked him not to talk to me like that, then the general coach spoke to me and apologized for the situation, but I told him that Amuta should explain what happened.”
He noted that things didn’t improve after that, saying, “I continued to train for three days after that situation and I usually participated in group training, but at the end of the training I was not in the division with some outstanding players, which made me feel that things were not going my way.”
He added: “I spoke to Wael Juma and told him I didn’t feel comfortable and then, four days before the start of the camp, I found out I wasn’t on the list of players to travel.”
Behind the scenes of joining contractors by Omar Kamal
Omar Kamal revealed the scenes of his transfer with the Arab contractors, saying: “There was a session with Syed Abdel Hafez, during which I told him that I do not mind leaving, but I do not want to be a burden on the team.”
He explained: “There were only 48 hours left until the end of the registration and at that time my name was mentioned in the Arab Contractors Club and they offered me a contract, so Sami Kooms decided to put me on the team.”
He added: “I have completed all matters related to the transfer to the Arab contractors, but the truth is that the matter has gotten out of hand and I feel that I have been treated in a way that I did not deserve.”
