Salah talks about the scenes of negotiations with Trabzonspor
Trabzonspor’s Turkish star Mohamed Salah has revealed how he was persuaded to join the club this summer after his Liverpool contract expired.
Salah, 34, joined Trabzonspor in this summer’s transfer window on a two-year contract extension on a free transfer deal.

Mohamed Salah said in a statement to Trabzonspor: “It’s hard to describe my ambition in one word, but I think I’ve realized since I was little that you can’t succeed without motivation and ambition, so I always try to find an incentive to keep going and that’s why I’m here now.”
The Egypt star added: “I’ve achieved a lot in my career and I want to take on a new challenge and that’s why I came here… I really hope we can win something, especially at European level and hopefully we can win the league as well.”
As for all the plaudits in his Liverpool career, he said: “It makes me happy when you play against a player and then you see your opponent appreciate you and recognize what you’re doing… I think that’s what makes me happy and proud of what I’ve achieved, like some big names have said about me.”
He continued: “I know some of them intimately. I worked with Jurgen Klopp and Steven Gerrard is also someone I speak to from time to time and see from time to time, so it makes me happy with what I’ve got in my career and continue to deliver.”

Of the research he did after talks with Trabzonspor, he said: “I looked for the best places in the city… I played at clubs like Liverpool and other cities, and I know that people’s passion and love for football in one city is a little different from the capital or elsewhere.”
He continued: “So when I heard that the club was interested in me, I was very excited… I started looking for some places and probably the best food so that I could enjoy my time as well… That was the first thing I did after I heard that the club was interested in me.”
On how he was persuaded to accept Trabzonspor’s offer, he said: “The ambition of the president of the club, the Hungarian Dogan, and what he is trying to build at the club. I come from a place in Liverpool where people love me and show me love and respect. I spent nine years. So when he talked about the love I would see, I said yes.”

He continued: “When I got to the airport it was amazing and even the reception in the city was amazing… But the most important thing for me is that the president of the club really wants to win something with the team and that somehow convinced me that this is the right decision.”
Regarding his personality and the likeness of the Trabzonites, he said: “So far I can say that I have seen love, I have seen respect and I know myself well. I am a person who always wants to win and fight wherever it is, so I will do everything and give everything to this club and this city and they will see it for years.”
He continued: “I’m not usually an emotional person, but when I got to the airport, somehow I felt like something was missing and I really wanted to see it… but I didn’t expect it.
He added: “I never expected to get such a reception on the pitch or at the airport, and like I said, I haven’t seen many players get such a reception from the fans before they touch the ball… I was very happy and touched.”

When asked about the reaction of his colleagues and friends who saw the reception at the airport and the stadium, he said: “I spoke to everyone, as well as some of my former colleagues in Liverpool because they called me afterwards.”
