The curtain has come down on the opening matches of the first preliminary round of the African Confederation Cup, where many clubs have achieved good results and progressed to the next stage.
Z Club thrashed visitors Djibouti 4-0, while Libyan side Al-Ahly Tripoli sent a message to their tournament rivals with a 3-0 away win over Zanzibar’s Kemkam.
Uganda Kitara defeated their Somali counterpart Mogadishu City by two goals to move closer to Al-Ahly in the next round.
Angola’s Primero de Augusto also beat Eswatini’s Green Mamba by two unanswered goals, while Nigeria’s Shooting Stars narrowly beat Tunisia’s CS Sfaxien with a clean sheet at home.
The return matches of the first preliminary round are scheduled from September 11 to 13.
