Russia presented the TKB-1167 anti-drone system to Egypt

At the Egyptian air show, Russia presented the TKB-1167 air defense system. Russian arms export company Rosoboronexport said the system consists of a combat unit equipped with four tank-mounted machine guns.

Arab Defense Website – September 4, 2026: Russia will demonstrate the TKB-1167 air defense and anti-aircraft system for the first time during the 2026 El Alamein International Airshow in Egypt, according to the Rosoboronexport press service.

The statement said: “Air defense systems are displayed in the static display area, as well as in the pavilions of Rosoboronexport and High Precision Systems Holding, a subsidiary of Rostec. Russia’s most visible participation is the world premiere of the TKB-1167 anti-drone combat system.”

The statement said the system consists of a combat unit equipped with four tank-mounted machine guns and can detect, track, identify and destroy drones independently and automatically.

The Russian TKB-1167 system is a short-range air defense system designed primarily to counter drones, especially small targets flying at low altitudes. The system consists of a combat unit equipped with four 7.62 mm tank machine guns, which provides a relatively high density of fire against small air targets, while reducing the cost of interception compared to the use of air defense missiles against low-cost aircraft.

TKB-1167 is characterized by a high degree of automation, as it can detect, track and identify drones and aim weapons at them automatically and independently, with the ability to integrate them into a multi-layered air defense network and the ability to use external sensor data.

The system is classified as a point defense and last line of defense to protect facilities and forces from drones that can penetrate other defense layers.

Rostec also announced that the system has already entered combat use and hit real targets, but the company has not yet released exact details regarding detection and engagement range, rate of fire, amount of ammunition, type of sensors and number of targets it can deal with simultaneously.

Its design reflects the Russian trend to provide a low-cost solution to counter the growing proliferation of drones, particularly by combining automatic detection means and direct machine-gun fire in a multi-layered defense system.
