Khabarni – Milliyet newspaper reports that the famous Turkish actor Serhat Mustafa Kilic, who is known to Russian viewers for the series “Agreement” and the film “Winter House”, was found dead in his apartment in Istanbul.
According to the newspaper, the body was found at around 17:00 local time in Nurtefe district of Kagdane district in Istanbul.
The 51-year-old actor’s girlfriend went to his house as she was unable to contact him since Thursday. After receiving no answer at the door, the woman opened the apartment with the key she had and found Kilic sitting motionless on a chair in the living room, prompting her to call 911.
The newspaper reports that the doctors who arrived at the scene announced the death of the actor and started an investigation to determine the circumstances of his death.
Kılıç is known to the audience first of all with the Turkish TV series “The Covenant” (Söz), where he played the character of “Çolak” – one of the main villains in the work. He also played the role of Ergun Black in the famous TV series “Eighty” (Seksenler), and the role of Salih Bozok in the historical drama “Goodbye” (Veda).
Kilic also starred in Nuri Bilge Ceylan’s Winter Hibernation (Kış Uykusu), which won the Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival.
The late artist was 51 years old when he died.
His girlfriend told authorities, according to reports in Turkish media such as the Sözcü newspaper, that the late actor had been suffering from lymphoma and had been battling it for some time.
In addition, according to other reports, he recently apologized for participating in some artistic productions due to his deteriorating health and a herniated cervical disc, due to which doctors prevented him from performing action scenes.
Initial medical examinations at the scene revealed bruises and bruising around the eyes, arms and legs.
Because of these signs, the Turkish police initially classified the death as “suspicious” and launched an extensive criminal investigation to determine whether the death was natural as a result of cancer or whether criminal suspicion was behind his death.
